Statue - Nakomis Gold

This gold Nakomis statue portrays a father teaching his son to use a bow and arrow. In contrast to the rounded, curvilinear form of the Nakoma sculpture, Nakomis is characterized by strong lines and angles, symbolizing strength and guidance.

Originally envisioned by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1923 for the Nakoma Golf Club in Madison, Wisconsin, the concept included both Nakomis and Nakoma as sculptural figures standing at the club’s entrance.

After Wright's passing, the Nakomis sculpture was brought to life in 2001 by Taliesin Architects for a new client in Clio, California, honoring Wright's original vision in a contemporary setting.
